Sister Elisa Maria McDade CSC, 94, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the convent. She was born Elizabeth Lee McDade on Jan. 10, 1896, in Conroe, Texas. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, at St. Mary’s, on July 9, 1915. She was received as a novice Dec. 10, 1915, and professed her final vows on Dec. 17, 1917. She was a teacher and served in secondary schools and served in Washington DC; Ocean View, Va.; Alexandria, Va.; Los Angeles; Austin, Texas; Marshall, Texas; and Lancaster, Pa. She was assigned superior of St. Mary’s Convent at Notre Dame from 1949 to 1955. She returned to the convent in 1972, where she retired.

 

Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Church of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, on the campus. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today in the convent parlors.
