SOUTH BEND - Walter McDaniel, 81, of 2613 Holland St., died at 2 a.m. Sunday in his home after an illness. Mr. McDaniel retired from Bendix Corp. after 31 years of service. He was born April 21, 1913, in Live Oak, Fla.

On June 30, 1946, in Tampa, Fla., he married Eureka Moore. She survives with a daughter, Helen Harris of South Bend; two sons, Eric of South Bend and Alphonso of Gary; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Lena King of Plant City, Fla. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Friends may call one hour before services in the church. Alford's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
