Mrs. Gilbert McDowell

September 14, 1899 – November 5, 1966

Mrs. Bessie McDowell, 67, of 55425 Berry Avenue, was dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital Saturday.  She had been suffering from a heart condition.

She was born on September 14, 1899, in Gas City IN, and had lived in South Bend since 1943, coming from Kokomo.  She was married on June 18, 1923, in Muncie, to Gilbert McDowell, who survives.

Also surviving area a son, Ralph, Garden Grove CA; two brothers, Claude Sullivan of Palmetto FL, and Orville Sullivan of Poneto IN; and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Northcutt, Melrose MA.

Friends may call until noon Tuesday at the Hollis Funeral Home and in the Seventh day Adventist Church until 1:30pm Tuesday when services will be held.  Elder J.A. Kroncke and Elder E. A. Craner will officiate.  She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
