Irene McFarlane

Irene McFarlane, 89, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on April 18, in Clare, Mich. She was born the daughter of Louis and Margaret (Posa) Balint on Sept. 4, 1911, in Joliet, Ill.

She married Earl C. "Mac" McFarlane in 1928 in South Bend, and he preceded her in death in November 1996. She loved to make quilts, and clothing including wedding dresses for her children. She had been a Boy Scout dean mother, and attended the Northwest United Methodist Church in South Bend.

She is survived by her children; Carolyn Randt, James McFarlane, Joyce Enders, and Michael McFarlane; 16 grandchildren and by 20 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday, April 21, in Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home, Clare, Mich. There will be a memorial service in the Chapel of the Riverside Cemetery, in South Bend, on Monday, April 23, at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice.
