SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Bernice E. McGarrity, 65, of 50265 Hollywood Boulevard, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Osteopathic Hospital, after an illness of several weeks. She was born March 5, 1906 in Knox and lived much of her lifetime in South Bend.

 

She was married Aug. 1, 1925 in Knox to Melvin J. McGarrity, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, William D. of South Bend and Petty Officer Michael J. McGarrity, with the Navy in Japan; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia Wrouble of Harbor Beach, Mich., Mrs. Betty Sharp of Mishawaka, Mrs. Charlotte Knapp of Denver, Colo. and Mrs. Virginia Austin of Decatur, Ill.; her mother, Mrs. Fannie Grindle of Knox; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a brother, Joseph Grindle of Michigan City. Arrangements are being made by the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home.

Services for Mrs. Bernice E. McGarrity, 65, of 50265 Hollywood Boulevard, who died Saturday will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Chapel. Rev. Kenneth H. Mendenhall, pastor of the Indiana Avenue United Pentecostal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
