Services for Sister M. Rose Viterbo McGray CSC, 82, of Saint Mary’s Convent, who died at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the convent, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Church of Loretto at St. Mary’s, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, also there. Friends may call until services in the convent, where a wake will be at 7 p.m. today.

 

She was born Febv. 16, 1906 in Baltimore, as Elizabeth McGray. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on June 26, 1926 having come from Washington DC. She was received as a novice Jan. 6, 1927 and professed her vows Jan. 6, 1929. She was a teacher and was assigned to St. Patrick’s Academy; St. Cecilia’s Academy; and Holy Cross Academy, all in Washington DC, where she served from 1934 to 1955. She taught at Holy Cross Academy in Kensington, Md. from 1957 to 1963; St. Mary’s Academy in Alexandria, Va. from 1963 to 1967; and St. Joseph School in Pocatello, Idaho; and St. Teresa’s Academy in Boise, Idaho, from 1919 to 1933. She was director of the novitiate from 1967 to 1971, and the director of House of Prayer from 1971 to 1975.
