Sister M. St. Bride (Mary Ann McGuckin) CSC, died on Saturday, April 15, in Saint Mary's Convent, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, Ind. Sister M. St. Bride was born on Jan. 23, 1908, to the late John McGuckin and Elizabeth Moore, County Tyrone, Ireland.

 

Sister came to the United States and lived and worked in New York City until February 1933 when she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She made her first profession in 1935 and her final profession in 1938.

 

Sister M. St. Bride spent her ministry in Ancillary Services at Dunbarton College, Washington, D.C., 1935 to 1941 and 1942 to 1969. She was at Saint Mary's Academy, Alexandria, Va., 1941-1942. Sister moved to Saint Angela Hall, Kensington, Md., in 1969, where she assisted in ancillary services, volunteer service to the community and the Ministry of Prayer. In 1997, when Saint Angela Hall was closed for renovation, Sister came to Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame where she was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Sister M. St. Bride is survived by her sisters, Rose, Brigid, Jo and Kathleen McGuckin and by a niece, Mary O'Neill, all of Coagh, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

 

Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 17, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame, Ind. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, followed by interment at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
