SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Davida (Katherine Patricia McKenna) CSC, was born in New York, NY, to the late Francis McKenna and Mary Garrett Fehling. Sister is predeceased by her sisters, Veronica and Elizabeth (Sister Christopher, CSC); and brothers, Francis McKenna and David Fehling. Sister is survived by her sisters, Maria and Grace and nieces and friends. Before entering the Sisters of Holy Cross, Sister Davida worked as a stenographer in Mercantile and advertising in New York City. She entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1939 and was a teacher in Washington, DC and Maryland. Because of her background in business, Sister was active as an accountant, Treasurer, and active in general and provincial administration. She loved sports and was athletic director at the Academy of the Holy Cross, Kensington, MD. Declining health moved her to volunteer service in the community and to Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame. Sister was active in the ministry of prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.

 

Reception of the Body and Wake services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6 in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame, IN. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
