SOUTH BEND - Rosie J. McKnight, 63, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Rosie was born on March 9, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, to Jeffery and Levoda Lark. She was a former member of Saint John Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Dr. B.L. White. Rosie was preceded in death by both her parents, Jeffery and Levoda Lark, as well as by two brothers, Jeffery Jr. and Eddie D. Lark Sr. Rosie was educated in South Bend Community Schools and Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She worked for Milwaukee Public Schools for 15 years. Rosie and her husband Charles moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 27 years ago. Rosie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Rosie is survived by her husband, Charles L. McKnight Sr.; three daughters, Rosalind Brown (John) of Lake City, Georgia, Rhonda Sims-Nash (Deon) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Crystal L. Black (John) of Valparaiso, Indiana; three sons, David Sims IV (Debra), Damien Sims and Charles L. McKnight Jr.; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also by her siblings: five sisters, Laura L. Brown (Fred), Jean A. Lewis (Verneil), Virginia B. Chism (Eldridge) of South Bend, Indiana, Alice D. Rouse (Michael) of New Rochelle, New York, and Jamie R. Love (Louis) of Waukeegan, Illinois; and three brothers, Robert E. Lark (Diane) of Claremont, California, Reed C. Lark (Donna) of Downey, California, and LaMarr K. Lark (Brenda) of Green Oaks, IL. Three aunts, Mary Berry of Chicago, IL, Ruth and Susan Jackson of South Bend, Indiana. Three special friends, Shirley Menard, Steponie Euell-Holiday and Leslie McCloud, and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Rosie's life on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 1 p.m. in Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 N. Adams Street, South Bend, Indiana.
