Edward Francis McNulty Sr.

SOUTH BEND - Edward Francis McNulty Sr., 79, died Monday, Jan. 29, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Ed was born in Indianapolis to Catherine (Boyle) and James McNulty. He graduated from Cathedral High School, Indianapolis, and attended the University of Notre Dame.

 

He married Irene Ganser on September 25, 1948, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mishawaka. They were married for 58 years, making their home in South Bend for the last 54 years. He retired in 1989 from Michigan Community Hospital. He was a proud member of St. Anthony de Padua Ushers Club, St. Anthony's Golf League and Knights of Columbus. He was Cub Scout master of Pack 584 and proudly marched for many years with his family in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

 

Ed is survived by his wife, Irene; his nine children, Edward Jr. (Trudi) McNulty of Bristol, Eileen (Tim) Whitlock, Mary (Ron) Treash and Karen (Dave) Deranek of South Bend, Pat (Linda) McNulty of McHenry, IL, Mike (Ronette) McNulty of Osceola, IN, Kathy Sherman of Niles, MI, Peggy (Tony) Laskowski of Mishawaka, IN, and Maureen (Matthew) Koscielski of Granger, IN; 24 grandchildren, Daniel (Selina) McNulty, Alison McNulty, Matthew (Theresa) Whitlock, Justin Whitlock, Andrew McNulty, Christy, Kelly, Nicholas (Andrea) and Carly McNulty, Corey and Adam Sherman, Jamie and Jonathon Treash, Frank, Catherine and Sarah Laskowski, Michael, Caitlyn, Simon and Marissa Koscielski, Chloe, Keaton and Cameron Deranek; two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Ella McNulty; a sister, Mary Catherine Myers; and brothers, James (Juanita) McNulty and John McNulty, all of Indianapolis, IN. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine (Boyle) McNulty; a brother, Vincent McNulty; and a granddaughter, Lilah Peg Koscielski.

 

Visitation will be in The McGann Hay, University Chapel, on Edison Road from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
