Aletha Frances McQueen

Aletha Frances McQueen, 79, of Elder Road, in Mishawaka, Ind., passed away following a long illness at 2:20 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, in St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka. Aletha was born on July 30, 1920, to William A. and Verna (Hudson) Decker in Hammond, Ind. She married Adrian Benson, who preceded her in death. Mrs. McQueen was employed by Kuss Bakery in Mishawaka, where she was a baker.

 

Survivors include two sons, John Kenneth Benson and his wife, Janice of Osceola, Ind., William Packer and his wife, Pat of South Bend, Ind.; two daughters, Sharon Smolka and her husband, Jerry of Mishawaka, and Catherine Kretchmer and her husband, Jack of Waynesville, N.C.; as well as 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Adrian; and two daughters, Frances Simmons and Billie Alice Benson.

 

Cremation will take place and memorial services will be private. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made in her honor to the donor's favorite charity.
