8, 1916 - April 21, 2010SOUTH BEND - Vernon Dale McQueen, 93, passed away at 3:00 am on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 in his Residence. Dale was born on December 8, 1916 in Tuscola, IL, to the late Bert and Mabel (Cambridge) McQueen. Dale was also preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Kirk and Mary McQueen, and step father, Harry Phillips. On September 18, 1948, in Kalamazoo, MI, Vernon married Rita (Ewald). She survives and lives in South Bend. Also surviving is their son, Michael Dale (Sara) McQueen; grandson, Kailas (Kate) McQueen; and 5 month old great-grandson, Keenan McQueen all of Bloomington, IN. Dale honorably served his country in the US Air Force and retired from Torrington. He was a loyal supporter of Washington High School Football and belonged to the Elk Post 234 and American Turners Organization. He attended Bethany Lutheran Church for 55 years. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 23, 2010 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. Family and friends will meet in Bethany Lutheran Church from 9:00 am to 10:00 on Saturday, April 24, 2010 for visitation and a Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am in the Church.
