MISHAWAKA - Gwendlyn S. McRoberts, 76, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, in the Golden Living Center of Mishawaka. Gwendlyn was born February 14, 1934, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to the late Kern Sr. and Lucille Carpenter. Surviving are her sons, Phillip McRoberts of Mishawaka and John G. McRoberts; as well as her three grandchildren, Jessica L. McRoberts, Ryan McRoberts and Melody McRoberts. Gwendlyn is also survived by her great-grandson, Mason Blatz; and her siblings, Phil Carpenter of Jackson, Kentucky, John Carpenter of Ocala, Florida, Kern Carpenter of Brookville, Ohio, Nancy Miller of Wichita, Kansas, and Dorothy Stallard of Wise, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her brother, Millard Carpenter, and her sister, Mary Martin. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the noon funeral service on Friday, March 19, 2010, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, and interment will follow at the Garden of Devotion on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Gwendlyn was a homemaker. She enjoyed listening to the "Oldies" on the radio, visiting the beauty shop and having her nails done, and enjoying pie and coffee with her family. Her sweet disposition towards others will always be remembered. In her memory, contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association.
