Adeline T. Medich Aug. 7, 1929 - May 1, 2008
SOUTH BEND - Adeline T. Medich passed away peacefully in her daughter's home on May 1 after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was the 11th and youngest child of Valente and Victoria (Sczymik) Bogunia. They preceded her in death along with all of her siblings, brothers, Joe, Bill, Walt, Vince, Frank, Tony and Casey; and her sisters, Anna Graczyk, Violet Bobelenyi and Evelyn Meribela. Another brother, John, was dead at birth. She is survived by her ex-husband, Val Medich, Sr.; sons, Nick (Lisa), of Huntington WV, and Wilson Val Jr. (Lynda) of South Bend; her daughters, Diane Piper, Donna May (Bob) and Valerie Phillips (Jon) of South Bend, and Jennifer Medich (Curcio) of Granger. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Michelle Piper, Jody, Nicholas and Jacob Medich, Erica McCahill, Abbey Evanoff, Elizabeth McAnnally, Rachael and Seth Stephens, Adria and Ashley Phillips, Jon and Kelsey Medich and Joshua and Jared Curcio;11 great-grandchildren, Devin, Rebekka, Kegan, Danitza, Melachi, Morgan, Grabriel, Addison, Ljiljana, Mikalah and Jalen, (with two more on the way), and hundreds of relatives. When her children were growing up, she provided a haven for all of the neighborhood kids who had nowhere else to go. She made them feel welcome and loved. She loved to feed everyone and was famous for her French fries, spaghetti and pancakes, her special style of dancing and giving the "Bushie elbow". She had a very generous nature and was called "Ma Medich" by all the kids who knew her. When her grandchildren arrived, she became "Bushie" or "The Boosh" to everyone. Her whole life was devoted to her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She was very proud of all of them and how close they all are. She was happiest when she was cooking for people, or camping with the family at Jellystone Park. She loved doing things with the children, such as playing cards, doing puzzles or just watching them swim. She especially enjoyed riding in boats and taking long car rides. In the last few years, she was able to go to Cancun, where she parasailed, to Orlando where she went on a roller coaster and on a train ride through the country down to New Orleans. We are sorry to see her pass and will miss her greatly, but are happy for her to be joining the huge "Bogunia Family Reunion" in the sky. We must always remember that "He who lives in the Lord never says goodbye to anyone for the last time". The visitation will be at Zahoran Funeral Home on Sunday, May 4 from 2 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:30. The memorial service will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church on Monday, May 5, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in her honor to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or Sts. Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church. To leave the family an online condolence or to share memories with the family, please visit our website www.zahoran.com.
