Joseph E.. Mell Sr.

New Carlisle, Ind., Sept 12 – Funeral services for Joseph E. Mell, aged 42, rural route No. 1, New Carlisle, who was killed at 11 p.m. Thursday on state route No. 2, nine miles west o South Bend, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Methodist church.  Rev. Frank Henniger will officiate and burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Amen funeral home.

 

Mr. Mell lost his life when struck by a semitrailer truck while he was walking on the highway.  He suffered a skull fracture and internal injuries.  Born near New Carlisle May 13, 1904, he had spent his life in this vicinity.  His marriage to Icel King took place Sept. 21, 1928 in South Bend.  He was employed as a mechanic in Mishawaka.  Surviving are the widow; nine children, Jack, South Bend, and Barbara, Audrey, Gloria, Jerry Joseph jr., Robert, Carol Ann and Judith, at home; and aunt, Mrs. Leona Ashcraft, and uncle Merilo Mell, both of New Carlisle.
