Angeline Mercantini

April 2, 1910 - July 17, 1999

Angeline ''Angie'' Mercantini, 89, of W. 13th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Saturday, July 17, at 9:40 a.m. in her residence after an illness. Mrs. Mercantini was born on April 2, 1910, in Logansport, Ind., as the daughter of the late Romolo & Antonia (Savadori) Baldoni. She had moved to this area in 1920, coming from Logansport. On Nov. 11, 1934, in St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Elkhart, Ind., as the former Angeline Baldoni, she married Joseph Mercantini, who preceded her in death on March 6, 1994. Mr. Mercantini is survived by a son, Samuel Mercantini of Mishawaka; two sisters, Louise Schiebelhut of Mishawaka and Bina Garatoni also of Mishawaka. ''Angie'' is also survived by several nieces and nephews of Mishawaka, California and New Hampshire, who cherish her memory and miss her dearly.

Mrs. Mercantini was preceded in death by two sisters, Diva Baldini on Dec. 5, 1989, and Carla Baldoni on March 19, 1999, along with a brother, Edward Baldoni on Nov. 30, 1995.

Mrs. Mercantini was the owner and operator of Baldoni Grocery Store in Mishawaka for 20 years before retiring in 1966. She was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and a former officer of the DeAmici's Club ladies auxiliary in Mishawaka.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Dermont Gahan officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. on Monday in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a wake prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
