Otto G. Merkle

Otto G. Merkle, 76, of 1215 White Oak Dr., died at 2 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital after Memorial after in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was the former owner  and operator pf Otto’s Tavern at 926 N. Eddy Street. He was born May 24, 1897 in Elgin, Ill., ND LIVED IN South Bend for 54 years, after coming fron Elgin.

 

On Dec. 24, 1919 in Elgin he married Adeline Enghausen, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Clifford of South Bend; a daughter, Mrs. Marianna Weaver of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; five grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Laura Thies of Elgin.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, eith Rev. Donald T. Kaufman, pastor of Zion United Christ of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
