Catherine M. Merrill, 66, of Bell Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday, June 18, in Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Merrill was born on Feb. 21, 1932, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On Feb. 21, 1969, she married Jack Merrill, Sr., who survives.

She is also survived by three daughters, Cynthia (Francisco) Coronado of Granger, Ind., Linda (Bolivar) Moran of Mishawaka, Ind., and Marjorie (Arthur) Deeds of Dexter, Ore.; two sons, Thomas Gilchrist of Butlerville, Ind., and David Gilchrist of South Bend; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Bell (Clem) Piechocki of South Bend; and by five stepchildren, Jack (Michelle) Merrill, Jr., of South Bend, Mark (Patty) Merrill of Granger, Randall (Michelle) Merrill of South Bend, Tammie Merrill of Mishawaka and Michael Merrill of South Bend.

Cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date.

The Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, is in charge of arrangements.
