SOUTH BEND - Jessie Wright Mertins, 90, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton. Mrs. Mertins was born Jan. 8, 1906, in Rochester.

In 1925 in South Bend, as Jessie Wright, she married John H. Zuver Jr. He died in 1939. On June 11, 1939, in South Bend, she married Charles E. Mertins. He died March 6, 1991. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Ann Harris of Lakeville and Mary Jessica Mertins of Tyler, Texas; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Betty Bissette of Indianapolis. A daughter, Katy Louise Mertins, preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, Ladies of the Elks Lodge 235, South Bend Country Club, Morris Park Country Club, charter member of the Summit Club, and was a former member of Indiana Club, Family & Children's Center Auxiliary and Hearing & Speech Center Auxiliary.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Retirement Community chapel. Cremation will take place, with burial in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. There will be no visitation. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
