Stephen F. Mesaros

November 11, 1897 - October 4, 1961

Stephen F. Mesaros, 63, of 1019 Woodward Avenue, died at 6:40am today in Memorial Hospital after an illness of one year.  He was born in South Bend on November 11, 1897 and was married to Henrietta Deranek, who survives.  He was a retired employee of the Bendix Corp. and a member of the South Bend Aerie No 435, Fraternal Order of Eagles; Barracks 829, Veterans of WW I; Bendix Aviation Post 284, the American Legion; the Bendix Local 9 UAW AFL-CIO and St Patrick's Catholic Church.

Surviving are four sons, Robert, Lawrence and Jack, all of South Bend and George of Lafayette IN; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Pitman of South Bend; a step daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Walczewski of South Bend; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Mesaros of South Bend an two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Haringer and Mrs. Ann Kovatch, both of South Bend.

Friends may call after 1pm Thursday in the Hickey Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Saturday in St Patrick's Catholic Church, with Rev. George T. Meagher, CSC, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Graveside military rites will be conducted.  The rosary will be recited at 8pm Friday in the funeral home.

Funeral Notes

Active pallbearers for Stephen F. Mesaros, 63 of 1019 Woodward Ave., will be Stephen Kollar, Arvid Nelson, Victor Ketchmark, Willis VanDerBock, Robert Anderson and Frank Wilcox.  Honorary pallbearers, all past commanders of Bendix Aviation Post 284, American Legion will be Marvin Wise, Ross Chrisman, Kenneth Lebo, Andrew Seifert, Gwilyn Morris, Stanley Kile, Harold Conery, Wilbert and Dell Briggs, Valentine Singler and Theodore Schafer.

Mr. Mesaros died Wednesday.  Funeral services will be at 10am Saturday in St Patrick's Catholic Church with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
