Amy I. Mestach

Dec. 25, 1975 - Dec. 17, 2009
I love you all dearly, Now don't shed a tear, I'm spending my Christmas With Jesus this year. MISHAWAKA - On December 17th the earth stood quiet for a brief moment while the spirit of Amy Mestach began the journey into her eternal homecoming of Heaven. Amy's physical life's journey began on Christmas Day 1975. From that moment in time all who were blessed to have met her were touched deeply by her beautiful smile and her most genuine gift of everlasting friendship. She was a gentle soul during her 15-month battle with cancer, and fought each issue given her with grace and determination. Amy is the daughter of Danny L. and Marlene A. (Smessaert). Surviving to carry on her memory are her parents, Dan and Marlene; son, Christian, and his father, Allen Martinez; sisters, Michelle Handley and Danielle (Adam) Kizer; and her very special niece, Gabrielle Handley.. Amy graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1994. She loved reading, cooking, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit. Visitation will be Monday, December 21st, from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m., with Chaplain Rob Ercoline officiating. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to the Notre Dame Federal Credit Union for the college education of her son, Christian, or to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
