Pauline C. Metsch

May 30, 1919 - Feb. 19, 1998

Pauline C. Metsch, 78, of Wenger Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away suddenly at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.

Mrs. Metsch was born on May 30, 1919, in Arcada, Ohio, as the daughter of Merle and Orpha (Hartness) Wineland, who have both preceded her in death.

On April 5, 1941, in Napoleon, Ohio, as Pauline Wineland, she married Arnold Metsch, who survives.

She is also survived by three daughters, Susan (Michael) Hughes of Atlanta, Ga., Cathy Metsch and her husband, Cliff Sheets of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jo Anne Metsch and her husband, Errol Bennett of Plainfield, N.J.; a son, Fritz Metsch of New York City, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Allison Hughes and Luke Bennett; and by two sisters, Bonadine Sweet of Findlay, Ohio, and Mary Lynn Klopfer of New Port Richey, Fla.

Mrs. Metsch was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mishawaka; was former president of Presbyterian Women, an Elder and Deacon of the church; treasurer of the American Heritage Society; and was a member of Friends of the Library. She was a former board member of The Family and Children's Center, Mishawaka; St. Joseph Community Hospital; and was a former president of the Mishawaka Women's Club. Mrs. Metsch had been elected Mishawaka Woman of the Year.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in the First Presbyterian Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Ronald Miller officiating.

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka, and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
