Sister M. Anatholie Mettler CSC, 95, of Saint Mary’s Convent died there at 8 p.m. Thursday. She was born Dec. 8, 1891 if Fort Wayne as Marie Elizabeth Mettler. She entered the Congregation of the Sister of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Oct. 3, 1918 coming from Fort Wayne. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1919 and professed her vows Aug. 15, 1921. She was assigned to teaching in elementary schools and served at St. Joseph Grade School, South Bend from 1956 to 1960; she also taught in LaPorte, Logansport, Plymouth, East Chicago, Valparaiso, Michigan City; Morris, Ill.; and Lancaster, Pa. She was assigned to duties at Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent after her retirement and assisted in duties as needed from 1967 to 1972.

 

Services will be at 8 a.m. Saturday in Church of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call today in the convent where a wake will be held at 7 p.m.
