Dorothy Metzger
July 21, 1923 - May 11, 2001

Dorothy Ingham Metzger, 77, residing on Aspen Way, South Bend, IN passed away at 4:50 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2001 at Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation. Mrs. Metzger served 32 years as a crossing guard for the South bend Police Department. She was also employed by House of Fabrics and Target Stores. She was born on July 21, 1923, in Dickson, TN to the late Oswald and Purnie (Jordan) Ingham and has resided in South bend since 1942, coming from Dickson. On April 7, 1945, in South Bend, IN she married Robert Metzger, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Metzger of Elkhart and Catherine Metzger of Mishawaka; a sister Betty Jean Wakefield of Nashville, TN and a brother, Harry Ingham of Vanleer, TN.

Mrs. Metzger was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of which she was an active member for 56 years. Dorothy was a talented seamstress and did volunteer work for the March of Dimes and Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2001 at Palmer Funeral Homes, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Gregory Fiechtner, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the Palmer Funeral Home.
