James A. Meuninck

April 17, 1914 - March 31, 2002

James Albert "AL" Meuninck, 87,of Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, MI and longtime resident of Mishawaka, IN passed away due to natural causes at 7:45 PM on Sunday March 31, 2002 in Elkhart General Hospital.

On April 17, 1914, AL was born in Mishawaka, the second son of Ernest and Mary (Claeys Martin) Meuninck, who both preceded him in death as well as two of his brothers Chuck and Rudy Meuninck.

AL had a great love of life, his church, his family, travel, story-telling and in his later years painting with water colors. He had a one-man art exhibit at the Mishawaka Public Library after he retired from Weisberger Paper Company.

On October 16, 1937, In St. Joseph Catholic Church, AL married the former Jane Audean Goss who survives. They would have been married 65 years this October. He is also survived by his daughter Judie Eichorst of Abilene, TX; two sons Jim of Eagle Lake, MI and Tom of Walkerton, IN. He was the proud "Papa"- grandfather of Julie, Doug, Chris, Jessica, Tyler and Rebecca; and the great-grandfather to Cameron, Taylor, Trey, Parker, Dirk and Kaelee. Also surviving are his brothers Fred, Julius, Ernest, Jr. and his only sister, Genevieve Gyoles; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Meuninck was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Toastmaster, and a Lector at St. Joseph Catholic Church and in retirement as a Red Coat at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka. One of his biggest pleasures in life was giving slide presentations of his travels.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday April 9th in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN where there will be wake prayers at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. David Otto on Wednesday April 10 at 10:00 AM Indiana time, 11:00 AM Michigan time in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, MI. Where there will be a visitation one hour prior the services at the church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN
