Bertha Marie Michele, 80, of Lincoln Way West, Osceola, Ind., passed away following injuries suffered in an accidental fire at her residence in Marcellus, Mich. at 1:18 a.m. on Saturday, April 1.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1920, in South Bend, Ind., to Elmer and Beryl Sossoman, who preceded her in death.

On Aug. 16, 1969, in South Bend, she married John Michele, who survives. She is also survived by her step-children, Michael (Nancy) Michele, Jr. and Sandra (Don) DeLee, both of Mishawaka, Ind.; her sisters, Virginia Engle of South Bend, Doris Paturalski of Niles, Mich., Irene Abbott of South Bend, and Mary Paturalski of Niles; a brother, Elmer Sossoman, Jr. of Niles; and by seven step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Michele retired from the Uniroyal Corporation as a production worker in 1969 after 29 years of service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Michele will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, in the Chapel of St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

The family will be receiving guests from 4 to 7 p.m. today, April 3, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be given to the American Cancer Society.
