Mishawaka - John (Jack) Michels, 77, of Regency Place Nursing Home in South Bend, formerly of Mishawaka, died about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the nursing home following an illness.
Mr. Michels was born in Nov. 11, 1907, in New York and had lived in Mishawaka since 1910.
He retired from the St. Joseph County Highway Department in 1970. On June 7, 1941, in Mishawaka, he married Martha M. Nix. She survives with a daughter, Helen Dobson of Springfield, Ill.; a son John E. of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Paul J. Radomski of South Bend.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where a wake service is planned at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society.
