MISHAWAKA – Joseph A. Midday, 69, of 214 E. 13th Street, was dead on arrival Monday in St. Joseph Hospital, where he was taken after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was born in Norway, Mich. on Aug. 11, 1909, and moved to this area in 1924 from Kimberly, Wis. He retired in 1974 after 19 years employment with the Dodge Mfg. Div of the Reliance Electric Co.

 

On May 5 he married Celia Mosher in Mishawaka . She survives with three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Weis of Mishawaka and Mrs. Mary Babcock of Wisconsin, and two brothers, Phillip J. and Louis J, both of California.

 

Friends amy call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hahn-Peffley-DeVos Funeral Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. Rev. Stephen Cvaniga, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. He was a member of the BK Club; Aerie 2083 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, DiAmicis Club, and the Edwardsburg chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 

Editor: He originally married Helen Schrader on 9-28-1929 in St. Joseph County. She died 10-26-1959.
