Curtis A. Miller, 47, of Elder Road, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in his home. On June 24, 1955, in South Bend, Ind., he was born to Silas O. and Margret (Shelly) Miller. Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Silas O. Miller; and by a brother, Kent W. Miller.

He was a 1973 graduate of Penn High School where he was a member of the swim team, and in 1977 received his bachelor's degree in industrial management from Purdue University. Curtis was an avid gardener, fisherman, hunter and gourmet cook.

 

He was previously employed by Miller Paint, which was his father's paint store, and had owned his own paint store, C&M Paint. He was most recently employed at Meijer, Inc.

 

On Dec. 15, 1999, in Mishawaka, he married Linda K. Buchanan. Along with his wife of three years, survivors of Curtis include his mother, Margret (Shelly) Miller of Granger, Ind.; one daughter, Karoline (Brian) Simpson of South Bend; two sons, Christopher (Kirsten) Pickenpaugh of Toluca Lake, Calif., and Patrick (Angela) Pickenpaugh of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Brandon Kinsces, Holly Simpson, Madison Simpson, Allison Simpson, Rebecca Pickenpaugh and Maxwell Pickenpaugh; a special aunt, Betty Galbreth of Jones, Mich.; a nephew, Nicholas Miller; a niece, Maria M. Hill; and by a sister-in-law, Cynthia Hill, all of Indianapolis, Ind.

 

Funeral services for Curtis will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola, Ind. Rev. Brian Beeks, pastor of Osceola United Methodist Church, will officiate. Graveside services will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Curtis A. Miller may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
