Edgar L. Miller

April 21, 1908 - Jan. 29, 1997

MISHAWAKA - Edgar L. Miller, 88, of Smytheham Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind.

Mr. Miller was born on April 21, 1908, in Evansville, Ind., as one of six sons of William and Vada Miller. He moved to this area in 1992, coming from Merrillville, Ind. On Nov. 26, 1930, in Corydon, Ind., he married Fern Moyers, who survives.

He is also survived by one daughter, Yvonne, and son-in-law James Turecek of Mishawaka; one son, W. William, and daughter-in-law Sandy Miller of Mishawaka; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Herman Miller of Corydon, Ind.

One daughter, Marilyn Sue, preceded him in death.

Mr. Miller was the school superintendent of the Ross Township School System from 1937 to 1972 in Merrillville, Ind. The school system honored him with a school named in his honor (The Edgar L. Miller School). He also worked as a school consultant for Cole and Associates, South Bend. Mr. Miller was a member of Coal Bush United Methodist Church and of the Indiana Retired Teachers' Association.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, in Coalbush United Methodist Church, Mishawaka. Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Corydon, Ind.
