Merle Miller

Sept. 29, 1917 - Jan. 12, 2000

Merle Witham Miller, C.S.B., of South Bend, IN, passed away at 9:03 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2000, in Darden Place, South Bend. She was born Septem-ber 29, 1917, in Chicago, Illi-nois, to the late Charles and Amy Blomberg Witham, and was raised in Kansas.

She attended the Conserva-tory of Music in Kansas City, Kansas.

On September 28, 1940, in South Bend, she married Manly F. Miller. He died April 9, 1999. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Krista & Dan Kurtz, and Cynthia & Pat Hanlon. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Eric Bowers, Kim Niblick-Williams, George Niblick and David Bowers; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Witham of Littleton, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Charles Witham.

Mrs. Miller was an accomplished musician. She composed many non-denominational sacred songs which are sung in churches all around the world. She was a devoted Christian Scientist and her teachings and healing will live on in the memories of all who knew her.

She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist of Mishawaka.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are being made by the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.

Our love and gratitude to the family of Darden Place for their tender, loving care. To Hospice of St. Joseph County, and to all her friends and relatives who lent their support to the family. An angel will be truly missed, but her love will be shared with others forever.
