Shirley A. Miller

Shirley A. (Felty) Miller, 66, of South Bend, passed away at 3:07 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2000, in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Miller was born on July 19, 1933, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident. She retired in 1996 from the University of Notre Dame.

 

On Feb. 14, 1991, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, she married Leslie H. Miller, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna L. Kamm and A. Michele DeCleene, both of South Bend; three sons, Dale A. Felty of Granger, G. Michael Felty of Osceola, David L. Felty of Montana; three stepsons, Charles A. Werner of Redding, CA, George E. Werner of Oklahoma City, OK, Larry B. Miller of Granger; nineteen grandchildren, Eric Kamm, Adam Felty, Jason Felty, David Kamm, Douglas DeCleene, Benjaman Felty, Jennifer Felty, Diane DeCleene, Paul Felty, Phillip Felty, Carrie Felty, Michael DeCleene, Kelly M. Miller, Sean P. Miller, Cindy Wemer, Leslie Charles Werner, Christine Werner, Judy Werner and Diane Werner; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Evans of Florida.

 

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. today, March 22, 2000, in the KANEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Memorial contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, or the American Lung Association. "She was a loving and giving wife, mother, and grandmother. She always thought of others before herself and was able to touch people with her creativity and enthusiasm. She loved to teach her grandchildren to fish, and we know that she is still sitting in a boat on Lily Lake catching the Big Ones."
