Margaret A. Minczeski

NOTRE DAME - Margaret A. Minczeski, 91 of Notre Dame, IN, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2008 in Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame. Margaret was born on May 8, 1917, in South Bend, IN to Raymond E. and Laura (Cover) Mikesell. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. On October 25, 1941, in the Log Chapel on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, as Margaret A. Mikesell, she married Edward V. Minczeski, who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Edward V. (Harriet) Minczeski, Jr. of Jackson Hole, WY, John M. (Joan) Minczeski of St. Paul, MN, Thomas C. (Barbara) Minczeski of Walnut Creek, CA, Matthew J. (Laurie) Minczeski of Pittsburgh, PA, and Damian R. (Bambi) Minczeski of Appleton, WI; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Benton of Chattanooga, TN. Preceding her in death were her grandson, Jason Minczeski; and her brother, Raymond Mikesell, Jr.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2008 in St. Joseph Chapel, at Holy Cross Village, Notre Dame, IN. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive and for one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday in St. Joseph Chapel. Margaret was a 1935 graduate of South Bend Central High School. She was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Parish where she was president of the school P.T.A. She was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scout Pack at St. Stanislaus Church. She was a member of the Christ Child Society, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and the St. Matthew and Elbel Park 9-Hole Golf League. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN, 46637. The family would like to thank the staff at Dujarie House for their loving care and compassion.
