SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Leonella, CSC (Pauline Ann Moe), 93, was born in San Francisco, CA, to the late Harry and Anna Schill Moe. She is survived by a niece, Eleanor (Don) Woodard, a grandniece and grandnephew, all of California. Sister received her earliest education for the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Charles School, San Francisco. She received college degrees from St. Mary of the Wasatch, Creighton and Fordham with her Ed.D. from Stanford. Sister's education ministry in the USA and Africa spanned 52 years during which time she taught all grades from kindergarten through graduate school. She served in elementary and secondary schools in CA and UT for 17 years, was supervisor of Holy Cross schools in the West for 10 years, taught college classes in UT and MA for eight years, and was campus minister in UT for four years. In 1979 she moved to Uganda where she was senior high school teacher for seven years. Her last eight years in Africa were spent as the religious education advisor for the Diocese of Fort Portal. Her influence in religious education in Ghana continues today through her foresight of training teams of teachers who in turn train additional teams of religious educators to serve the diocese. Sister returned to Saint Mary's in 1997 and was active in the ministry of prayer until her death.
