Irene I. Molnar

March 24, 1918 - June 6, 2001

Irene I. Molnar, 83, of Sterling House, formerly of Johnson Road and Irish Hills, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, in Sterling House.

Mrs. Molnar had been employed by Wilson Brothers, attended Old Washington High School, was a member of the William Penn Association and Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church.

Irene was born March 24, 1918, in McMechen, W.Va., to Stephen and Christina Nyers. On June 18, 1938, in Our Lady of Hungary Church, as Irene Nyers, she married Joseph M. Molnar, who died Oct. 26, 1985.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane (Walter) Regulinski of South Bend, Ind., and Ruth (Raymond) Leda of Granger, Ind.; four sons, James Molnar of Toronto, David (Sally) Molnar of Mishawaka, Ind., Gary Molnar of Lakeville, Ind., and William (Ruth) Molnar of South Bend; 11 grandchildren, Joseph Regulinski, Anthony Regulinski, Andrew Regulinski, Michael Regulinski, Timothy Regulinski, Christopher Molnar, Michelle Molnar, Sarah Molnar, Nichole Molnar, Joseph Molnar and Janine Anne Leda; three step-grandchildren, Kary DeVall, Terry Renz and Cindy Asbury; five great-grandchildren, Jenna Regulinski, Kasey Regulinski, Zachary Regulinski, Kyle Regulinski and Ryan Regulinski; seven step-great-grandchildren, Jody Loring, Marcie Parker, Charlotte Stafford, Bridgett Germann, Kipp Kahlenbeck, Rick Renz and Aaron Renz; four sisters, Amelia Nyers of South Bend, Margaret Horvath of Edwardsburg, Mich., Agnes Bralick and Louise Garman, both of Granger; and by a brother, Alex Nyers of South Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. today.

The Molnar family would like to give special thanks to Hospice and Sterling House and their staffs for all the care and compassion in this time of need.
