Margaret M. Monhaut

Bremen – Mrs. Margaret Monhaut, 78, of 220 E. Plymouth Street, died at 8:20 a.m. Monday at the Bremen Community Hospital following an apparent stroke.

 Born in Mayfield, Mich., July 7, 1894, she had lived in the Bremen area for 45 years, coming from Penn Township. Mrs. Monhaut was principal of the Osceola Elementary School for seven years prior to her marriage.

 

As Margaret Dundon, she married Harry Monhaut June 7, 1921. He survives. She was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church , Bremen, and of the Altar and Rosary societies of the Church. She was also a member of the Bremen War Mothers and Bremen Senior Citizens.

 

Also surviving are five sons, Joseph, Ralph, Richard, B. Patrick, all of Bremen, and Edward, Nappanee; five daughters, Miss Ruth Monahut, Bremen, Mrs. Margaret Williams, Granger, Mrs. Helen Smogor, South Bend, Mrs. Cecelia Dolan, Elkhart, Mrs. Joan Richard, Sterling Heights, Mich., and 27 grandchildren.

 

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Narcowich, officiating. Burial will be in the Bremen Cemetery.

 

The rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
