Sister Mary Moran CSC, 83, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, after a one-month illness. She was born Mary Kathryn Moran on May 8, 1898 in Chicago. She was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1927 and made her profession of vows on Jan. 6, 1929. She was assigned to teaching in elementary and secondary schools conducted by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, including the former St. Joseph Academy, St. Joseph High School and St. Mary’s Academy in South Bend, as well as schools in Hammond, Michigan City and East Chicago. She also taught at schools in Illinois, Utah and California. She lived at Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in South Bend from 1972 to 1976 and then was assigned to St. Mary’s Convent where she remained until the time of her death.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call until the time of services in the St. Mary’s Convent parlors. Where a wake will be held at at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
