Vincent L. Moraschi

Mishawaka - Vincent L. Moraschi, 83, a member of the Mishawaka Common Council for 12 years in the 1950s and early 1960s, died at 3:35 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

Mr. Moraschi, of Berkley Circle, retired in 1973 as owner/operator of the former Moraschi & Ferrettie Grocery.

 

He was born Feb. 20, 1909, in Chicago and lived in Mishawaka most of his life. 

 

On Nov. 30, 1933, in Mishawaka, he married Yvonne DePaepe.  She survives with a daughter, Mary Ann DeWald of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Carabina of Riverside, Calif.; and a brother, Louis of South Bend.

 

Mr. Moraschi was a city councilman for the 2nd District for 12 years.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Usher Club, DeAmicis Club, Eagles Lodge Aerie 2083 and Mishawaka Library Board.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. 

 

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. 

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Hahn-DeVos Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m.
