Donald O'Dell Morris

July 10, 1928 - June 20, 1998

Donald O'Dell Morris, 69, of Prarie Creek Road, Dallas, Texas, formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away of natural causes on Saturday, June 20, at his son's home in Rockbridge Baths, Va. Mr. Morris was born on July 10, 1928, to Edward Lawson and Eula Gertrude Morris in Ben Franklin, Texas.

 

Mr. Morris is survived by two sons, Jeffery Earl Morris and his wife, Janet of Rockbridge Baths, and Michael Lane Morris of Mishawaka, Ind.; three daughters, Donita Staples and her husband Larry of Mishawaka, Jeanell Taravella and Donna Dell Baker, both of South Bend; a sister, Jewel Ennis of Dallas; and by six grandchildren, Devlon Stokes, Kim Morris, Christina Guthrie, Lisa Guthrie, Bryan Wise and Zachary Collins. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents; and by seven brothers and sisters, Doris (Jeff) Vernon Morris, Alvie Edward Morris, Roy James Morris, Bonnie Harris, Mary Frances Morris, Opal McDowell and Donnie Ray Morris.

 

Mr. Morris drove for Ruan Transport while in South Bend, and worked as a carpenter for the city of Dallas until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 364, and served in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola. Burial will then take place at Restland Cemetery, Roxton, Texas. Donations may be made in memory of Mr. Morris to the Hospice Program.
