Maxine Velma Mounce

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Maxine Velma Mounce, 86, of South Bend, passed away Saturday morning at 1:55 a.m. in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Mrs. Mounce was born on April 19, 1922, in Valparaiso, IN, to the late Charles and Velma (Miller) Thune. Maxine graduated from Valparaiso High School in the class of 1940. She married Warren E. Mounce in the Barry Memorial Methodist Church, Chicago, IL, on November 16, 1946, and he passed away in 1980. Her marriage to Warren produced three children, Michael, who passed away at age 21, and is survived by Linda Wolfe and Nancy (Daniel) Tetzlaff, all of South Bend; two grandchildren: twins, Brad (Kerri) Wolfe of Noblesville, IN, and Stacey (Tommy) Johnston of Indianapolis, IN; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul E. (Lorene) Thune of Valparaiso; a sister, JoAnn Bond of Valparaiso; and four nephews. Mrs. Mounce attended Meadowood Free Methodist Church in Elkhart, IN.

 

Friends may call Monday from 5-7 p.m. in McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road at Ironwood. Graveside services will take place Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. South Bend time, 10:00 a.m. Valparaiso time, at Graceland Cemetery, 1505 US 30, with Rev. Bryan Borger, pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Mishawaka, officiating.
