Mercedes T. Muenz, 101, of Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, Ind., formerly of West Washington St., died Saturday morning in Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation. She was born July 29, 1899, in Bowdle, S.D., to Lewis and Adaline (Smithberger) Muenz, who preceded her in death along with a sister, Alma E. Muenz, and a brother, Louis Muenz. Surviving are two twin goddaughters, Mary Katherine Gulmon and Mary Margaret Cadieux, both of Valley City, N.D.

She worked as a secretary archivist at the University of Notre Dame Archives Department from 1947 to 1980 when she retired. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, South Bend, and was a 1924 graduate of The College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minn.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in South Bend. Graveside services will be held in Jamestown, N.D. There will be no visitation. The HICKEY Funeral Home,17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, is handling arrangements.
