Richard V. Mulhaupt

Richard V. Mulhaupt, 76, of Auten Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away following a six week illness at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, at St. Joseph's Medical Center.

 

On January 12, 1945, in Elizabeth, N.J., he married the late Dorothy H. (Murphy) Mulhaupt, who passed away on December 24, 1996. He is survived by a daughter, Kristine Weiand of South Bend; two sons, Richard C. Mulhaupt and Charles Long, both of South Bend; four grandchildren, William Paxson of South Bend, Wendy Dorsch of Mishawaka, Ind., Heather Wieand living in Sweden, and Kurt Weiand of South Bend; a great-granddaughter, Coral Lee Dorsch of Mishawaka; and by three sisters, Naomi Cordtz and Verna McElheney, both of South Bend, and Marge Boone of Tennessee.

 

Born in South Bend to Verne and Violet (Knabenshue) Mulhaupt, Mr. Mulhaupt was a self-employed contractor working in drywall and plaster construction for thirty years. He was very talented in many other construction trades as well. He served his country in the Army during World War II.

 

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the burial at the McGann Funeral Homes, Council Oaks Gardens Chapel, 21275 W. Cleveland Road, just east of Portage. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation.
