Rev. Bernard Mullahy CSC, 75, of Corby Hall, University of Notre Dame, died Wednesday in St. Joseph Medical Center after an illness. He was an assistant at Faith/Hope/Charity at the time of his death. He was born July 31, 1910. Surviving is a sister, Margaret Dauphin of Fitchburg. Mass.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Church with burial in Community Cemetery, on the campus. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Moreau Seminary, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

 

Rev. Mallahy entered the Holy Cross Seminary Sept. 7, 1928; made his first vows July 21, 1930; and final profession Aug. 9, 1933. After his ordination Dec. 17, 1938, he studied philosophy at Laval University, Quebec, receiving a doctorate in 1946. He taught at Notre Dame from 1946 to 1950, when he was named assistant provincial of the Indiana Province, a position he held until January 1962 when he was elected the vice superior general of the Congregation of Holy Cross. He served the community in that capacity from Rome until 1974. Upon his return he was assistant pastor at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in South Bend until 1977, when he moved to Corby Hall.
