Sister Mary Elwyn CSC, 77, died early today at Saint Mary’s Convent after a long illness. Prior to her retirement at St. Mary’s Convent, she had been assigned to the Provincial House in Ogden, Utah. During her community life she had been assigned to the Holy Cross Convent at Notre Dame; St. Mary’s Academy in Austin, Tex.; Alexandria VA.; Salt Lake City, Utah; and St. Teresa’a Academy in Boise, Idaho. She was born Lillie Mullarkey in County Sligo, Ireland, in 1890. She received her education in Ireland and entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1916, at which time she was a resident of Los Angeles. She received her habit in 1917 and made her profession of vows in 1919.

 

Services will be at 7:10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Loretto Chapel at St. Mary’s College, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call until 7 p.m. Friday at the convent parlor.
