Sister Helen Rose Mulligan CSC, 97, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday in the convent. She was born Aug. 30, 1890 in Leadville, Colo. On Sept. 6, 1918 she professed her vows in the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. In 1920 she graduated as a registered nurse from Mount Carmel Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. She also attended Sacred Heart Hospital School of Medical Technology and served as a registered medical technologist in Spokane, Wash. Before coming to St. Mary’s Convent in 1966, she served as a nurse in Saint Alphonsus Hospital. Survivors include three nieces, Sister Kathryn Mulligan and Sister Ann Catherine Mulligan, both of Covina, Calif.; and Sister Mary Mulligan of San Antonio, Texas.

 

Friends may call Monday in St. Mary’s Convent where a service will be at 7 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Resurrection will be at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s College, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus.
