Mary Ellen Murat

Mary Ellen Murat, 97, of 33rd Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:04 a.m. on Friday, April 4, in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Murat was born on Oct. 13, 1899, in Fan-Genesia, Italy. She had resided in South Bend since 1952, coming from Nelsonville, Ohio.

In 1925, in New York City, N.Y., as Mary Ellen Lazroli, she married Armand George Murat, who preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1971. She was also preceded in death by a son, Rene Murat, who passed away on Feb. 9, 1962.

Mrs. Murat is survived by a daughter, Ellen May Murat of South Bend; two sons, Armand Murat of Granger, Ind., and George Murat of South Bend; and by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Hanley & Sons Funeral Home, ''Southwest Chapel,'' South Bend.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pet Refuge, to the donor's church, or to a favorite charity.

Hanley & Sons Funeral Home, ''Southwest Chapel,'' located at West Ireland Road/State Road 23, is handling arrangements.
