Rena Stella Murphy

Rena Stella Murphy, 96, died on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Healthwin Specialized Care.

Rena was born in Mantino, Ill., to John and Georgiana (Hubert) Pepin. Rena came to South Bend, Ind., from Deland, Fla., in 1979. On June 20, 1926, in All Saints Church in Hammond, Ind., Rena married Eugene Francis Murphy, who died April 16, 1988.

Rena is survived by a daughter, Gloria Jean Murphy of Elkhart, Ind.; two grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Eloise Brown; and by a sister, Clara Parker of Hebron, Ind.

Rena was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in South Bend. She was a longtime member of the Altar and Rosary Sodality, the Legion of Mary, and was a tertiary of the Third Order of St. Francis while a parishioner at St. Mary's Church, Griffith, Ind.

Visitation for Rena will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, with a prayer service and Rosary at 3:30 p.m. in McGann's Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony Catholic Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Rena Stella's memory to the Maryknoll Missions.
