Sister M. Xavier Therese CSC, 57, former teacher at St. Joseph High School in South Bend, died Thursday in St. Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago, Ind. after a short illness. Born Mary Agnes Murphy on Oct. 9, 1913 in Milwaukee, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on July 6, 1931. She received the habit on Jan. 4, 1932 and professed her vows in 1934. She was a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, and a graduate student of journalism. She taught in various elementary and high schools in Indian and Illinois, and in 1953 to 1964 she was assigned to St. Joseph High School.

 

Services will be Saturday morning at St. Margaret Mary Church in Hammond, Ind. The body will then be taken to St. Mary’s Convent at St. Mary’s College, where visitors may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus.
