Robert D. Myers II

Robert D. "Bob" Myers II, 66, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away following a battle with cancer on Thursday, Aug. 21, in his home.

Bob was born on May 18, 1937, in South Bend, Ind., to Robert D. Myers I and Mary R. Myers. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Myers I. Bob was a life long area resident.

Robert was married to Jeanne I. Marvel, from 1957 to 1974 she survives along with their five children, Jeanne, Margie, Kathleen, Robin and Robert D. III.

On January 17, 1981 he married Mary (Bouzan) Wagner in South Bend, Ind. She survives along with his mother, Mary R. (Creighton) Zakrowski of South Bend; his children, Jeanne (Ralph) Myers-Miller, Margie (Greg) Pierce, Kathleen (Steve) Schossow of San Diego, Calif., Robin Myers of Escondido, Calif., Robert D. Myers III of Roby, Mo., Kirt Wagner of Niles, Mich., and Ken Wagner of Georgia; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his three brothers, William E. Allen and Anthony Zakrowski of South Bend, and James (Julie) Zakrowski of Granger, Ind.; three sisters, Rita (Casmier) Szewczyk of South Bend, Debra (Vince) Poczik of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mary Jo (Robert) Baker of North Liberty, Ind.

Bob managed the first area McDonalds from 1961 to 1963; it was the company's 100th store. He organized and led a successful union campaign at Midas International, Elkhart, Ind. Bob was employed in the R.V. industry most of his adult life, by Frolic Homes and Midas International. He retired from Miller Building System in Elkhart in May 1999.

Bob was a member of the South Bend Loyal Order of the Moose #58. He loved sailing his sailboat, "The Daydreamer," on Lake Michigan.

Bob spent his retirement taking many extended sailing trips with his wife, Mary. He especially enjoyed his trip along the Inter Coastal Waterway from Amelia Island, Fla., to Charleston, S.C., and sailing in the Gulf of Mexico.

A remembrance and celebration of his life will be held in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, today, Aug. 23, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Friends and family may call an hour prior to the memorial service.
