Stephen J. Nagy April 23, 1912 - Nov. 3, 1998)

SOUTH BEND - Stephen J. Nagy, 86, of Kendall Street, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, in his residence.

Mr. Nagy was born on April 23, 1912, in South Bend, Ind., to Peter and Rose Nagy, who both preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Frank Nagy. On Sept. 28, 1935, in St. Casimir Catholic Church, he married Philomena Goralski, who also preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 1995.

Steve retired from the former Studebaker Corporation and from Brad's Pro Shop. Mr. Nagy was inducted into the Indiana Bowlers Hall of Fame, and was a lifelong member of the United Auto Workers.

He is survived by a daughter, Gerry (Gil) LaCosse of South Bend; two grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Egyhazi of South Bend and Steven LaCosse of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sisters, Catherine Michalski, Anna Fodrocy and Rose Magera, all of South Bend; four brothers, Joseph Nagy and Kenneth Nagy, both of Niles, Mich., John Nagy of South Bend and Emery Nagy of Pigeon Fork, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Glenda Nagy of South Bend; and by a brother-in-law, Bill (Alberta) Magley of Phoenix, Ariz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was performed at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends called from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a parish Rosary was recited at 6 p.m.
